and provided expert testimony in various cases, ranging from civil litigation
and international arbitration to regulatory compliance hearings. A rough
estimate of legal clients can be categorized as 60% defense / 40% plaintiff.
Dr West specializes in analysis of accidents that occur in chemical or petroleum facilities, having passed “Daubert” challenges in this area of specialization.
An experience-based knowledge of computer process control systems and safety instrumented systems has been particularly important in assisting the incident investigation teams in large facilities to determine the sequence of events leading up to the accident.
